Proverbs 21:4 (NLT)
“Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.”

The Lamp of the Wicked

J. Cole said pride is the devil. Whether it’s the devil or not, one thing is certain: Pride is sin. This proverb calls it the “lamp” of the wicked—it is the very lifeline and guiding light for those with evil intent. The wicked don’t just “have” pride; they feed on it.
Haughty eyes are constantly critical and judgmental, looking for ways to diminish others to elevate themselves. A proud heart knows no humility, no compassion, and no forgiveness. Consequently, proud actions are always deceptive and hypocritical. These evil actions don’t happen in a vacuum; they stem from an evil attitude. Your attitude is your mental orientation. If your mind is not centered on the Truth of God’s Word, your “lamp” is broken, and your actions will inevitably lead to darkness.

The Practice:

Adjusting the Orientation

1. The Motivation Audit
Be honest with yourself: What do you thrive on? What is the fuel that motivates you and gives you light? Are you secretly satisfied when others suffer? If your joy is rooted in someone else’s downfall, your “lamp” is fueled by pride. Seek the Lord to replace that toxic fuel with the oil of the Holy Spirit.
2. The Intolerance of Evil
There is no “Middle Ground” for the wicked or the evil. Their path is set for destruction. We must decide today that wickedness—especially the wickedness within our own hearts—will not be tolerated or allowed to remain. You cannot negotiate with a spirit that is designed to destroy you.
3. The Ego Exit
Resist allowing pride to invade and steal your joy. Let your ego go! We are almost always our own worst problem. Remember this sequence: My actions follow my attitude, and my attitude directly affects my anointing. You cannot carry the weight of God’s glory while you are puffed up with your own pride.
4. The Peace of Focus
Jesus promised to keep us in perfect peace if our minds are stayed on Him. Peace is the result of a mind that has been “re-oriented” away from self-exaltation and toward Savior-exaltation. When you change your focus, you change your future.

Today’s Declaration:

“I am smashing the ‘lamp of pride’ today. I refuse to see the world through judgmental eyes or lead with a heart that lacks compassion. I am re-orienting my attitude to align with the Word of God, and I choose to let my ego go so my anointing can grow. My mind is stayed on Him, and my peace is perfect!”

You can’t go ‘Higher’ in God while you’re ‘Full’ of yourself. Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
