The Divine Paradox

Proverbs 22:4 (NLT)
“True humility and fear of the LORD lead to riches, honor, and long life.”

The Package Deal

Do you want riches, honor, and a long life? Then you must learn to go low. Godly success is the complete antithesis of worldly success. In the world, you climb over people to get to the top; in the Kingdom, you serve people to get to the throne.
Humility and the fear of the Lord are a package deal. You cannot separate them. You cannot claim to worship, trust, and fear the Lord while acting like a self-centered jerk in your daily life. It simply doesn’t work. True, sincere reverence for the Lord is the only road that leads to sustainable wealth, genuine honor, and a high quality of life. This proverb challenges us to choose the “less traveled” path—to stop seeking the temporary applause of man and start seeking the eternal approval of God.

The Practice:

The Alignment Audit

1. The Attitude Refocus
Check your disposition. It only takes a slight shift in focus—a bad day, a rude comment, or a moment of pride—to cause your attitude to drift off course. Take time regularly throughout your day to “re-calibrate.” Ask yourself: If Jesus were standing right here, would He be pleased with the spirit I am carrying right now?
2. The Choice Inspection
Look at your current habits. What are you doing that is actually detrimental to your honor and your health? What “unauthorized” practices have you added to your life that are draining your riches? Are you making choices to impress your social circle, or are you making choices to please your Creator? If you want the “Riches, Honor, and Life” package, you have to follow the “Humility and Fear” protocol.
3. Identify the Tipping Point
What does it take to get you “out of character”? We all have triggers—rejection, disappointment, or even just physical hunger. You must find your tipping points and be aware of them before they lead you into a trap. Surrender your personal “wants” to the Lord and let Him order your desires. When you are free from the bondage of seeking societal approval, your character becomes unshakeable.

Today’s Declaration:

*”I am trading my pride for His promise today. I choose the path of ‘lowliness’ so that God can bring the ‘lift.’ I am inspecting my choices, identifying my triggers, and re-aligning my attitude with the Fear of the Lord. I refuse to be a slave to social approval—I am a servant of the Most High, and I am walking into my riches, honor, and long life!”

Humility isn’t thinking ‘less of yourself,’ it’s thinking of ‘yourself less.’ Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
