The Gravity Shift

Proverbs 16:6 (NLT)
“Unfailing love and faithfulness cover sin; evil is avoided by fear of the LORD.”

The Atonement vs. The Appetite

We must thank God daily for His unfailing love. The Word is clear that unrepentant sin will not go unpunished, but God in His infinite faithfulness has provided a legal loophole for our souls: Atonement. Through confession and sincere repentance, the blood covers the debt.
However, once your sins have been atoned for, the blueprint changes. You cannot continue to setup camp in the very place you were rescued from. We are commanded to avoid evil. How? Through the Fear of the Lord. This isn’t a terrifying dread; it is a holy reverence. As you increase your proximity to God through prayer, Bible study, giving, forgiveness, and consistent commitment, the gravitational pull of the world weakens. You don’t escape evil by staring at it and wishing it away; you escape it by drawing so close to the Father that the enemy’s light cannot find you.

The Practice:

The One Percent Principle

1. Cease the Struggle, Start the Reverence
Stop trying to “quit sinning.” Focus-driven resistance only makes the temptation louder. Instead, shift your energy and start reverencing the Lord. Commit to consistency in your godly spiritual disciplines. Start operating heavily in faith and raw obedience, and spend less time negotiating with your erratic feelings and impulses. When you fill your gaze with His glory, you lose your appetite for the garbage of the enemy.
2. The “Fess Up” Recovery
When you fall down, get back up. Do not linger in the dirt of your mistakes trying to explain them away. Fess up when you mess up, clear the record through confession, and keep moving toward Christ. You don’t build a holy life overnight; you build it one day at a time, getting one percent better each day. Incremental growth beats emotional burnout every single time.
3. Exercise the New Persona
In Christ, you have been engineered as a brand-new creation. Stop trying to repair the old garment; put on the new one! Begin exercising and exploring this spiritual newness. Place the “New You” directly in your center-view mirror. You are no longer who you used to be, so stop acting like a tenant in a house you no longer own.

Today’s Declaration:

“I am resigning from the ‘Struggle Cycle’ today! I refuse to spend my life fighting old sins when I could be pursuing a Holy God. I am shifting my focus to the Fear of the Lord, increasing my proximity to Him, and letting His love cover my history. I am getting 1% better today, exercising my new nature in Christ, and walking away from evil by running toward the Throne!”

Don’t fight the dark—just turn on the Light! Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
