The Strategic Eviction

Proverbs 22:5 (NLT)
“The deceitful walk a thorny, treacherous road; whoever values life will stay away.”

The Anatomy of the Self-Inflicted Wound

The reality of a broken world dictates that life will bring its share of troubles—problems that are simply part of the human experience inherited from Adam. However, an overwhelming majority of the crises we face are not unavoidable destiny; they are the self-inflicted consequences of poor choices.
This Proverb issues a stark warning to the “deceitful.” In the economy of the Kingdom, the deceitful are not merely those who lie to their neighbors, but those who lie to themselves about the inevitable harvest of their actions. We see this psychological fraud played out every single day:
A person is assaulted downtown at 2 AM after leaving a club, and the world asks, “How could this happen?” when the real interrogation should be, “What were you doing out at 2 AM at the club?”*
Someone loses their rent money at the casino table and acts confused about where the cash went, when the real indictment is, “Why were you gambling with your family’s basic provision?”
You cannot avoid every storm in life, but you can absolutely avoid standard, self-inflicted disasters. Consider your ledger: many claim complete confusion and shock about why they cannot maintain or sustain their money, yet they routinely ignore a clear, divine blueprint for financial insulation.
Malachi 3:10-11 (NLT):“Bring all the tithes into the storehouse so there will be enough food in my Temple. If you do… I will open the windows of heaven for you. I will pour out a blessing so great you won’t have enough room to take it in! Try it! Let me prove it to you! Your crops will be abundant, for I will guard them from insects and disease…”
God has laid out the path to economic and spiritual stability. The road you walk is entirely your choice.

The Practice:

The Four Non-Negotiable Evictions

1. Evict Selective Obedience
Do exactly what the Bible says. It is entirely useless to read the Word if you refuse to weaponize it through application. The Bible is not a cosmic suggestion box; it is an instruction manual for survival and success. When you consistently disregard God’s clear directives, you are personally guaranteeing unnecessary friction, hardship, and lack in your life.
2. Elevate Wisdom Over Knowledge
Knowledge is merely the accumulation of information—knowing how to do something. Wisdom is knowing when to use it and, more importantly, when to stay away from it. Wisdom acts as the guardrail on a treacherous road. You must actively seek it out, pay attention to its tone, and allow it to govern your decisions before the crisis hits your house.
3. Fire Your Friends
Your inner circle is either a net that holds you up or a lead weight that drags you down to the bottom. It is time to execute a total house cleaning. If your associates are constantly challenging your trust in the Lord, fueling negativity, failing to encourage your walk in Christ, or standing by to watch you fail without offering corrective truth—FIRE THEM. Replace them with warriors who are actively seeking Christ first and who possess the maturity to hold you accountable to your highest calling.
4. Fire Your Pastor (And Find a God-Sent One)
You do not need another buddy in the pulpit to validate your compromises. If your pastor is not challenging your flesh, agitating your comfort with the Word of truth, and pushing you toward a deeper, sacrificial commitment to Christ through their teaching, preaching, and lifestyle—FIRE THEM. You will never avoid the sophisticated snares of this life without a God-sent Shepherd who will rightly divide the Word and apply the necessary pressure required for your spiritual development.

Today’s Declaration:

“I am resigning from the ‘Self-Deception Committee’ today! I refuse to blame the enemy for the thorns I planted with my own hands. I am doing what the Word says, honoring the tithe, and elevating Wisdom as my guardrail. I am cleaning house—firing toxic friends and demanding a pulpit that challenges my flesh. I am taking ownership of my path, and today, I choose life!”

You can’t control every storm, but you can control your steering wheel—stay off the thorny road! Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
