The Spiritual Economy

The Spiritual Economy

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 2:2–4 (NLT)
“Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. Cry out for insight and understanding. Search for them as you would for lost money or hidden treasure.”

Tune, Cry, and Search!
Wisdom is not a passive inheritance; it is a pursued treasure. God has made wisdom available, but He has made its discovery dependent on your desire. You have an active role to play. You must aspire after it, strive for it, and crave it.

We naturally chase what we love. If you want to know what you truly value, look at your calendar and your clock. Weigh the hours of your day. Consider where and on what you are spending your life’s force. Who is receiving your energy, and what is the return on that investment? Are those people and pursuits truly worth the “currency” of your life? There are 8,760 hours in a year. How much of that has been spent pursuing Christ, and how much has been wasted on the pursuit of self? Now is the time to “Tune” your attention to Godly living.

1. Break the Manipulation of the “Minor”
Stop letting fear, doubt, worry, finances, or even significant others manipulate and consume your time. These are “minors” compared to the “Major” of God’s purpose. God has a specific assignment for you TODAY. Are you doing it, or are you too distracted by the noise?
2. Mine the Challenge
Look within your current problems for Godly lessons. God rarely wastes a crisis; He uses tests and challenges to correct and perfect you—for your ultimate good and His ultimate glory. If you are going through it, make sure you grow through it.
3. Surrender the “Right to be Right”
Lose the need to always be right. Just stop. Surrender the urge to over-explain your actions or defend your ego. Your fruit and your actions usually speak much more clearly than your explanations. Silence is often the loudest form of wisdom.
4. The Hebrews 12:1 Strip-Down
Lay aside the people, habits, and practices that are not moving you closer to God. Identify your “weights.” A weight isn’t always a “sin,” but it is an entanglement that slows your pace. If it’s slowing your race, strip it off.

Today’s Declaration

“I will no longer waste the currency of my time on worthless pursuits. I choose to tune, cry, and search for the treasure of Wisdom. I strip off every weight and focus my energy on the pursuit of Christ and His purpose for my life today.”
