Proverbs 12:3 (NLT)
“Wickedness never brings stability; only the godly have deep roots.”
The Failure of the Shortcut
Sit down somewhere and be still! This “being still” isn’t just about physical rest; it is about your spirit sitting in the center of God’s will. It is a state of being at peace with His plan.
Hear this: there are no shortcuts to long-term success. Any attempt to circumvent the process of maturity or to take matters into your own hands through cheating, deception, or unscrupulous dealings is defined by God as wickedness. These methods might supply immediate pleasure or a quick “win,” but it is a compromise that costs you your lasting peace and joy. Real success never requires the sacrifice of your integrity.
The Reward of the Deep Root
Those who refuse to compromise their righteousness are rewarded with deep roots. This means that not only will you be sustained, but your posterity—your children and your children’s children—will remain. Stability is the fruit of finding peace in God’s plan and, more importantly, in His timing.
The Practice
Cultivating Stability
1. Trust the Regimen
Trust the process. God’s Word is not a theory; it is a guarantee. He will protect and He will provide. You must trust the “regimen” of choices and challenges that come your way. Every challenge is simply “resistance training” for your roots. He will bring you through it all if you refuse to dig yourself out of His timing.
2. The Emotional Audit
Check your emotions. Feelings are the primary drivers of “knee-jerk” decisions. When we feel the pressure, we often reach for “feel-good” or “fast-money” solutions that ultimately bring negative consequences. If the decision is birthed in panic, it’s not from God. Stability starts with emotional sobriety.
3. Don’t Mind the Wicked
Know the truth: those who set plans to do you harm will not succeed, nor will they last. Do not waste a single ounce of your energy being concerned about them or their deeds. Their “success” is short-lived and shallow-rooted. According to the Word, whatever they have stored up in their wickedness is eventually being transferred to the righteous!
Today’s Declaration:
“I refuse to take the shortcut. I choose to be still in the will of God, trusting His process and His timing over my own impulses. I am sinking my roots deep into integrity and righteousness, knowing that my stability is found in Him. I will not be moved by the wind, because I am anchored in the Word.”
A shallow root can’t survive a deep storm. Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
