The Wings of Wealth

Proverbs 23:4-5 (NLT)
“Don’t weary yourself trying to get rich. Why waste your time? For riches can disappear as though they had the wings of a bird!”

The Exhaustion of the Chase

Let’s be clear: the goal of your life is not “more money.” If wealth is your primary compass, it will lead you down a path of deep unfulfillment and directly away from the will of God. This frantic search for riches will exhaust you and wear you out, leaving you with nothing but fatigue.
The problem is rarely getting money; the problem is keeping it and putting it to valuable use. Money is flighty—it has wings! It comes and it goes. The real question is: Do you have the things of true value? Do you have peace, joy, good health, real friends, and restful sleep at night? As Archbishop Sterling Lands teaches, we should spend on experiences, not on possessions. Possessions gather dust, but Kingdom experiences gather destiny.

The Practice:

Financial Sovereignty

1. The Principle of the Margin
Live beneath your means. Do this intentionally and for an extended period of time. Just because you have the capacity to spend doesn’t mean you have the command from God to do so. Discipline in your spending today creates the margin for your miracle tomorrow.
2. The Giver’s Peace
Remember that God is a Giver. We find our deepest peace and greatest rewards when we act like Him. Try this: make it a goal to give more than you spend and watch how your internal condition changes. When you become a conduit for God’s resources, He ensures the flow never stops.
3. Location is Not Identity
Refuse to let your current situations or circumstances dictate your actions. Where you are right now does not define who you are, and where you came from does not determine where you can go. Your bank account is a temporary fact; your sonship in Christ is an eternal truth.
4. Obedience is “Faithing,” Not Feeling
Never sacrifice your obedience to God. Make serving Him the “must-do” of your life. Crucially, do not let your obedience be invaded by your emotions. Obedience is not a feeling; it is a “faithing.” We worship, we praise, we pray, we tithe, and we attend worship because we love Him, not because we “feel like it.” When you move past your feelings, you move into your favor.

Today’s Declaration:

“I am resigning from the weary chase of wealth. I refuse to exhaust my life for things that have wings. I choose to invest in experiences of grace and the capital of the Kingdom. I will live with margin, give with joy, and obey with consistency—regardless of how I feel. My identity is found in the Father, and my provision is secure in His hand!”

Don’t spend your life chasing what can fly away; invest it in what is eternal. Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
