“‘Come home with me,’ she urges the simple. To those without good judgment, she says, ‘Come, eat my food, and drink the wine I have mixed.’”

The Resistance of “Later.”

What is the resistance? What is actually stopping you from moving forward? Is it the weight of your past experiences? Is it the guilt of past performance—or the lack thereof? Maybe you’re dealing with the fog of confusion, the sting of neglect, or the aftermath of being mishandled. You might be standing there thinking, “I’ll listen… later. I’m coming… but later.”
What is the real reason you haven’t stepped into the game? Wisdom has prepared a table, mixed the wine, and set the atmosphere. She is calling the “simple”—those who realize they don’t have all the answers—to come home. The only thing keeping you from the feast is the lie that you have “more time.”

The Practice

Ending the Gamble

1. Stop Gambling with “Tomorrow”
“Later” is a currency you don’t possess. Tomorrow is not afforded to everyone; all we have is the immediate Now. It is youthful naivety to believe you can blow off today’s instructions and just “get right” tomorrow. Your adversary wanted you finished yesterday! Every moment you delay is a moment you leave yourself undefended.
2. The “Today” Mandate
Wisdom is calling, and she is calling TODAY. This isn’t a suggestion for next week; it’s a mandate for this morning.
 * Read your Bible.
 * Pray with sincerity.
 * Ask for forgiveness.
 * Quit the negative habits, the poor sleeping schedules, the toxic relationships, and the self-destructive excuses… TODAY. If it’s killing your purpose, bury it now.
3. Why Not You?
Everything Wisdom offers is for your benefit. Romans 8:28 promises that all things work together for good to those who love God. So why the hesitation? Why not surrender to His will? Why not commit to becoming just 1% better every day?
Why not you? Why not now? Why not decide that, this time, “Effie” is going to win! You’ve got to sing it with the conviction that your time for being “left behind” is over. It’s your turn to feast.
The Fresh Start Prayer:
“Lord, thank You for Your grace. I hear Your call and I refuse to gamble with ‘later’ anymore. What would You have me do? Help me to heed and obey Your voice above all the other noise in my life. I’m coming home to Your wisdom today.”

Today’s Declaration

“I am stepping out of the ‘later’ trap and into the ‘now’ of God’s purpose. I refuse to let my past guilt or future excuses keep me from Wisdom’s table. I am becoming 1% better today, trusting that God’s feast is better than the world’s crumbs. This time, I’m going to win!”

Wisdom has prepared the meal; all you have to do is show up. Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
