Proverbs 3:3-4 (NLT)
“Never let loyalty and kindness get away from you! Wear them like a necklace; write them deep within your heart. Then you will find favor with both God and people, and you will gain a good reputation.”
What are you wearing?
Before you pick out your clothes today, ask yourself: What is my soul wearing? Is it a nasty disposition? Is it an “I-don’t-feel-like-being-bothered” look? Is it a cloak of defiance or disrespect?
As believers, we are challenged to trade those old, tattered rags for a new wardrobe of loyalty and kindness. To be loyal is to be dependable and unswerving in your allegiance to God. When you keep your commitments to Him—your prayer time, your consistency in tithing, your consecrated worship—you are fueled to be kind to others. Because Jesus lives, we can face the day with radiant joy! It is in this “uniform” of grace that you find favor—even with those who would naturally oppose you.
The Practice
Dressed for the Kingdom
1. The Foundation of Faithfulness
Hebrews 11:6 teaches that without faith, it is impossible to please God. Loyalty and faith are inextricable. When you obey God’s Word and do what He says, you are walking in the “Slipstream of Favor.” You aren’t just following rules; you are wearing the identity of a faithful child who reaps the promises of the Father.
2. The Strength of Kindness
Anyone can be mean; it takes no strength to be snappy or quick-witted with a stinging quip. True strength is found in kindness. Search for opportunities to encourage, edify, and embrace others. Put on the attitude of Christ—make it your “signature style” to leave people better than you found them.
3. The “Pause” Protocol
Fill your day with moments of contrition and reverence. This is the practice of a broken spirit and a deep awe of God’s presence. Every few hours, stop, look up, and breathe. Allow the presence of the Holy Spirit to recalibrate your purpose. Don’t let the “busy-ness” of the world tear your necklace of kindness.
4. Expect the Favor
2 Chronicles 16:9 tells us that God’s eyes search the earth for those whose hearts are perfect toward Him. He is literally looking for a place to show His strength! When your primary effort is to please God alone, you become a magnet for His favor. Expect doors to open that no man can shut.
5. Guard Your Joy
Refuse to let go of your joy! Jesus is the source, not your circumstances. Decide right now: “Nothing that happens today will be allowed to steal my joyful attitude.” Joy is the accessory that makes kindness look beautiful.
Today’s Declaration
“I am dressing for the purpose God has for me. I put on the necklace of loyalty and I engrave kindness onto my heart. I trade my ‘disposition’ for His ‘revelation.’ I will pause to reverence His presence, expect His favor, and refuse to let any person or problem steal the joy of my Lord.”
Favor isn’t just about who you know; it’s about what you wear on the inside. Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
