Proverbs 23:20-21 (NLT)
“[20] Do not carouse with drunkards and gluttons, [21] for they are on their way to poverty. Too much sleep clothes a person with rags.

The Mechanics of Excess

As you step into this day, you must remain keenly aware of the specific people, environments, and digital devices that subtly lead you toward overindulgence. Let’s establish an absolute truth: the primary problem is rarely the object itself—it is a lack of self discipline.
Alcohol is not inherently bad; it is your ability or inability to control your consumption that creates the crisis. Your smartphone and tablet are not the enemies; it is the poor discipline and growing technological addiction that plagues your productivity. Likewise, a single helping of food is biologically sufficient, and your morning snooze button is a daily, test of your spiritual resolve—stop negotiating with your mattress and get up!
An undisciplined person will never sustain lasting success. The greatest danger to your assignment is that bad company corrupts good efforts. If you continuously surround yourself with individuals who lack discipline, you will undermine your own pursuit of success and drift toward destruction.

The Practice:

1. Relationship Inspection
Inspect your inner circle: Who is positioned around you? What behavior and standards are you tolerating inside your circle? You must recognize this law of gravity: a negative, undisciplined influence will never rise to match your momentum; it will always pull you and your life down to its level. Clean it up!
2. Aerial Alignment
Choose to run exclusively with eagles. You must intentionally steer clear of individuals who constantly offer excuses for undisciplined living, lazy habits, or compromised standards. Surround yourself with believers who challenge your current capacity and inspire your effort. Give them the authority to hold you accountable to the Word of God.
3. Quench the Thirst
Permanently refrain from the relentless, insecure need to earn the appreciation, applause and approval of people. God approved of you at the moment of your birth—His validation is entirely sufficient. It is of no consequence whether your neighbors, co-workers, or peers like you or not. A True friends will never require you to compromise your character to earn their respect. There is no friend like Jesus Christ, and when you are fully secured in Him, you possess everything you need.

Today’s Declaration:

“I refuse to let a lack of discipline or bad company sabotage my destiny or clothe my house in rags. I release the spirit of addiction, I take command of the snooze button, and I will master my appetites today. I will inspect my circle, clear out negative unsolicited influences, and align my life only with those who challenge me to grow. I no longer seek man’s approval. My validation is locked in Christ.”

Today is a great day to make a Fresh Start!
God bless,
